Course Description
A flexible curriculum, the MRes in Management enables you to concentrate on business and management research. This course gives you the chance to comprehend the research process in the context of your chosen field, paving the road for you to earn a postgraduate degree that fosters the development of crucial analytical and critical thinking abilities for the workplace or doctorate studies.
You and your hobbies will be at the centre of the course thanks to the program’s customizable design. At the beginning of the course, you will complete two taught modules that will assist you in developing a critical awareness of the research process.
You will have the knowledge and abilities necessary to conduct independent research at the cutting edge of the management discipline by the time the programme is over. This will give you the opportunity to do more doctoral research or to work in fields of practise or policy that rely on management research. Graduates can work in municipal and federal government, business, and industry, among other management-related fields. Management consultant, analyst, and research project manager are examples of potential careers.
MRes is a full 180-credit master’s degree programme that involves research in the field of your choice. Students graduate with a full UK Master’s degree and are then qualified to pursue doctoral studies.
Course Content
You are introduced to the foundations of business and management research in this module. You’ll investigate the ways that critical analysis can aid in better comprehension, interpretation, and analysis of the field. It also takes into account how organisational policy, practise, and society at large are affected by business and management research.
This subject gives you the skills and understanding necessary to do critical research in the fields of business and management. It cultivates fundamental research abilities applicable to several situations and settings. You will be equipped to conduct your own research project in business and management after completing this module.
You can use the knowledge you’ve gained from the earlier modules in this module to carry out an individual research project. With the assistance of a designated supervisor, you will work on a sizable written project examining a challenging business and management issue that pertains to your personal interests.
Study Method
At the start of the course, you will complete two taught modules. You are welcome to participate in 2 optional, two-week long block teaching sessions at the UCLAN Preston campus. The next step will be a research project supported by a supervisor who will offer one-on-one instruction. You can work on an extended project under supervision that is solely academic or that has a business or industry focus.
